We are Jim and John Foti, and we grew up on the shores of Lanikai, learning to paddle and steer before we could even see over the gunnels.

After all the races and records, our core motivation remains the same as it was when we were kids on Lanikai beach: a deep love for the ocean and the community (ohana) that surrounds it. Winning is a thrill, but the greatest reward is sharing our knowledge, seeing a new paddler catch their first wave, and helping an experienced racer find a new level of speed. For us, it’s still about the simple joy of being on the water and helping others experience it too.

Winning races is one thing, but knowing how to make others faster is a different skill entirely. We don’t just know the latest techniques; we have observed and influenced their evolution over decades. We are passionate about sharing this deep understanding with paddlers of all levels. Our coaching is marked by the confidence, nonchalance, and humor that defines our personality, creating a trusted and effective learning environment.
